If you live somewhere cold like me, you know how easy it is to get stuck in a fashion rut. It’s easy to end up wearing the same sweaters and jeans uniform every day when the temps are so low.

Which is why I’ve been researching fashion inspiration and finding ways to update my look lately. One of the easiest ways to do so is by adding hair accessories.

This is a trend that started last year, but has been picking up speed in 2019. From scrunchies and headbands to sparkly clips, anything is game. Just throw on a fun hair accessory to update your look with minimal effort.

Headbands – This trend makes my little gossip-girl-loving heart sing. Back in the days of Blair Waldorf (aka my high school years), headbands were insanely popular. They’re back and one of the best hair accessories for 2019. The knot style is one of the most popular, along with black velvet looks against blonde hair. Add this hair accessory to any outfit to instantly update your look for 2019.

Clips and barrettes – Clips are having a major moment, and it could not be more fun. Worn to either clip back one or both sides of the hair, this trend is already popping up all over Instagram. Popular styles include pearl clips, rhinestone Bobby pins, and cheeky phrases.

Scarves – Scarves worn in your hair have been around for the past few years, but that doesn’t mean this trend is over yet. Find fun printed silk scarves to wrap through a braid or tie around a ponytail.

Scrunchies – Another trend that is still going strong. Update yours by adding in the hottest print of winter – leopard. Especially on trend when used to keep hair out of your face at the pool or beach. Take note for your next warm weather vacation.
